A tennis chain is a single, unbroken line of diamonds, each in its own small setting, linked so the chain lies flat and moves like fabric. On a man it works best worn close to the neck, over a plain tee or under an open collar.
Total carat weight is the whole decision
A tennis chain is described by the total weight of all its stones. More weight means bigger stones, which means a wider, brighter line.
- The Tennis Chain: 8 to 20 ct total in 18k white or yellow gold, four-claw links with a box clasp. This is the chain that gets noticed across a room.
- The Slim Tennis Chain: 2 to 4 ct total in 14k gold, three-claw links. Fine enough to wear every day, and to layer with a plain gold chain.
Because every stone is lab-grown, IGI graded, and never a simulant, the jump from slim to full weight costs far less than it would with mined diamonds.
Four claws or three
Four claws hold each stone at its corners and make the line look square and solid. Three claws show more of each stone and make a lighter line. Neither is better. Four suits a heavier chain; three suits a slim one.
Length
On most men, 18 inches sits at the base of the neck, 20 inches falls to the collarbone, and 22 inches clears a buttoned collar. If you will wear it over a crew neck, 20 inches is the safe choice. Measure a chain you already own and order the same length.
The clasp
A box clasp with a safety catch keeps a heavy chain closed. Check it every few months, the way you would check a watch strap.
